On July 22, on the occasion of the International Chess Day declared by the United Nations, the Armenian Red Cross Society, as a partner, was invited to participate in the "Climate Gambit 2023" chess tournament organized by the "Kitelab" company in the botanical garden, which was organized under the auspices of the Armenian representation of UNESCO and in cooperation with the Office of the Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in Armenia, the Chess Federation of Armenia, the Chess Academy of Armenia, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and Yerevan Botanical Garden.
Around 100 chess players from all over Armenia competed during the event. Team and individual games, as well as sports, arts and science communication activities were organized to encourage healthy lifestyles and sustainable development behaviours.
The Armenian Red Cross team, with the participation of volunteers, organized a first aid master class related to the possible consequences of climate disasters, provided first aid to the public and demonstrated emergency response skills during thematic talks.
