On 7 - 9 November, National Moot Court competition on International Humanitarian Law was held in Aghveran, where French University in Armenia Foundation team became the winner. The team was composed of Law Faculty students: Karine Vardanyan, Yuri Melik-Ohanjanyan and Lilit Madatyan.
The Moot Court Competition consisted of 5 rounds: during the first four rounds all 6 teams from Law faculties of Armenian Universities were participating: Yerevan State University, French University in Armenia Foundation, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University and RA Military Institute named after V.Sargsyan.
According to the results of the rounds, the Jury, comprised of Armenian leading experts in the field of Law, including Dr. Vladimir Vardanyan, PhD, Dr.Levon Gevorgyan, PhD, Dr.Aram Orbelyan, PhD, Dr. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, PhD, Dr. Taron Simonyan, PhD and ICRC Lawer Iren Aloyan, chose two teams representing French University in Armenia Foundation and Yerevan State University to compete for the Prize.
The final round was held on 9 November, and the French University team was awarded the first place.
The winners received Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Tablets, professional books, as well as the Cup of the competition; which was given to the winning team by the team of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, as they were the winners in last year Competition.
The Finalists will be given the opportunity to practice in the Constitutional Court and in the International and Comparative Law Center.
IHL Moot Court Competition aims to promote the interest of future lawyers on International Humanitarian Law and deepen their knowledge through theoretical courses and practical exercises.
Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law was organized by the Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) with the support of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and with the cooperation of International and Comparative Law Center (ICLAW).
