According to a memorandum signed with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on December 19, the Armenian Red Cross Society will undertake the management of Gyumri nursing home, where 24-hour care is provided to the elderly and persons with disabilities.
We will introduce the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement experience, particularly the experience and skills gained thanks to the cooperation with Swiss Red Cross, which will allow us to improve living conditions of the elderly and people with disabilities in need of care.
Among others building conditions will be improved, an active aging component will be introduced, and links will be established with ten community-based initiative groups in the Shirak Region, which will promote socialization and community life.
In addition, ARCS plans to support older people's initiatives according to their interests, such as embroidery or tailoring.
ARCS will continue to provide medical, social and psychological care, 24-hour care, substantially improving its quality.
Employment contracts will be re-signed with at least 70 percent of home staff members.
The National Society will invest at least 163 million AMD to improve the quality and living conditions of the services provided. Only in 2020 ARCS will invest at least 87 million AMD to renovate 4 of the 6 residential areas.
One of the 4 residential areas designed for at least 20 beneficiaries will be furnished and matched for special care for bed-ridden people.
The total number of beneficiariess in the nursing home is 160.
