On December 12, representatives of the Armenian Red Cross Society and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies visited the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center to familiarize themselves with the center's educational and material capactities, as well as its main activities.
Dr. Anna Yeghiazaryan, ARCS Secretary General, and Yuri Poleshchyuk, director of the Center, highly appreciated the close cooperation, within the framework of which joint exercises are held with the participation of the ARCS Rapid Response and First Aid teams, joint events and humanitarian programs are implemented.
Davron Muhamadiev, Head of Delegation in South Caucasus at IFRC, presented the IFRC financing tools during emergencies, in particular the DREF, the Disaster Response Emergency Fund. The international experience of the Armenian Red Cross in the fields of mental health and first aid was also mentioned, in particular, the fact that only the Armenian Red Cross Society in the region issued an attestation certifying the international quality of FA trainings. The Director of the Center emphasized that the involvement of the professional staff and volunteers of the ARCS raises the quality of the cooperation.
He strongly appreciated that psychological support is provided not only to the beneficiaries and victims of disasters, but also to the staff and volunteers involved in the response.
The logistic capabilities of the Center were also discussed and the possibilities of joint use of its capabilities were considered.
