The Armenian Red Cross Society, with the support of the ICRC, IFRC, Monaco Red Cross, Swiss Red Cross, Austrian Red Cross, "Hunter Food" and "Majorel" companies, has provided more than 13 000 units/packages/pieces of humanitarian aid to the communities and internally displaced persons affected by the military operations of September 13, in the form of hygiene items, clothing, First Aid boxes, kitchen items, bedding, psychological first aid. 

The support was provided in the host communities of the affected and internally displaced persons of Vayots dzor, Gegharkunik, Syunik, Kotayk, Ararat, Armavir, Tavush, Shirak regions and in Yerevan.

 

In addition to the initial response, the ARCS jointly with the ICRC conducted a rapid assessment of humanitarian needs of internally displaced persons in the aftermath of the recent escalation of the conflict, in order to continue an appropriate response.

The ARCS constantly updated the database of people applying through Hotlines, passing it onto the Primary Need Registration Platform of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

The psychologists of the ARCS provide psychological aid to the relatives of wounded, dead and missing servicemen and the displaced families face-to-face (in the territory of the Central Clinical Military Hospital, in Vardenis, Martuni), online (Kndzoresk, Kornidzor, Tegh, Sotk, Mets Masrik), and through the Hotline (all RA regions).

Mines and unexploded ordnance awareness and Safe Behavior trainings were conducted in the affected communities.

An educational program was launched in Vayots dzor's city of Jermuk secondary school No. 2 and primary school No. 6 in Goris community, Syunik region, within which child development centers were established. Specially trained volunteers from regional and community branches of the ARCS conducted daily trainings, extracurricular activities, social and cultural events, thematic discussions aimed at capacity building.


On 12 December, the Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS), in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Armenia distributed one-time cash assistance to the most vulnerable 459 families of the border communities of Nerkin Hand, Shikahogh, Srashen and Chakaten in Syunik region, and Kutakan, Nerkin Shorzha, Tretuk and Sotk in Gegharkunik region, following the September 2022 hostilities at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. A total of 1565 persons received the assistance, ranging from AMD 150,000 to AMD 362,000, depending on the size of a household.

In particular, a one-member household received AMD 150,000, a two-member household received AMD 215,000, a three-member household received AMD 264,000, a four-member household received AMD 313,500 and a five-member or a larger household received AMD 362,000.

A total of AMD 124,208.000 was distributed by Armenian Red Cross Society. The cash distribution program involved a prior needs assessment, which was carried out by the ICRC in coordination with the local authorities. The ICRC and ARCS teams jointly registered the households residing in the above communities.

Around 293 million AMD, equal to around 740 000 USD was provided to carry out the response.
